Kristen Bernier receives National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Conservation Award

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Please join us in congratulating our very own Kristen Gurnitz Bernier, our Organic Community Garden Coordinator & Graphic Graphic Designer, who is the recipient of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Conservation Award for her work & dedication to our #communitygarden.

After the garden was founded, Kristen worked tirelessly to make sure that it was a #gem in the community. Her belief is to "leave the Earth in a better condition than it was found in". She strives to make sure that no synthetic chemicals are used, ensuring organic produce for the gardeners. Kristen, along with the gardeners, donate excess produce each season to local food banks and shelters. Kristen also hosts a variety of gardening programs held at the Inwood Athletic Club, open to the public, as well as special events. She wants to educate our community on healthy-living with these courses and encourage residents to grow their own healthy food.

We were so excited when she was nominated, and knew that her hard work and dedication would earn her this award.
